The principle of making SCON XTB028 Recessed Magnetic Track Lighting System
To design SCON XTB028 recessed magnetic track lighting system, these components MUST be have:
Driver. INPUT: 110V AC. OUTPUT: 24V DC.Track ＆ Rail-with cable. Connecting the tracks to the driver needs it.Track ＆ Rail-no cable (if you need more than 100cm/39.37inch track ＆ rail). Grouping tracks needs it.24V Track lighting heads.
Search “SCON XTB028” to choose your components. XTB028 track is only compatible with XTB028 track lighting heads; vice versa.
Warnning: If your ceiling has been finished, this system can’t be installed unless rebuilding your ceiling.

Note
You must have at least one power driver which outputing 24V DC. The total carrying power of the driver cannot exceed 80% of its rated power. To link the track with the power driver, you must have at least one track (with cable). Tracks can be easily connected to each other, but one driver can power up to 12 meters of total track length, otherwise a separate combination of driver and tracks needs to be created. With this component, two tracks are connected horizontally at right angles to each other. With this component, two tracks are connected at right angles to each other vertically. Model: SCON XTB106. Can’t mix with XTB028 to install. The 48V driver and the tracks are compatible with all the three dimming methods, but different dimming methods can’t be mixed. Noticed that the system is installed by professional electrician.

Sketchy Steps of Installation (Getting detail from “Visit the SCON Store”)
Step 1
Make a slot with 50mm (1.97inch) width and 60mm (2.36inch) depth for placing and securing the track.Cut off the power.Connect the rails with connectors, and then fasten them to the main runner.Connect the driver and the tracks.
Step 2
Power on. Test if the track is working by track lighting heads. This step is very IMPORTANT, otherwise the gypsum board needs to be disassembled for inspecting and replacing tracks later.
Step 3
Covering of both sides of the tracks.
Step 4
Install your favorite light heads. A beautiful magnetic track light system appears.

Q & A
Q: Does XTB028 track support dimming?
A: When you use SCON 48V Driver B or 48V Driver C with 48V SUP DIM fixture head and corresponding dimmer switch, then this track supports dimming even though there is no signal wire in the track (please check the XTB106 track fixture head details page for wiring scheme description). Since the fixture head with built-in DALI dimmer driver supporting 2700K-5700K is a 4-wire contact, it is not supported to be used in combination with XTB028 track but only with XTB106 track. Special reminder, XTB028 fixture head (24V) does not support dimming, regardless of whether the external driver you use has dimming function or not.
Q: There is a squeaking sound after installation.
A: The most likely reason is that the driver’s quality is not good, so its output voltage and current are unstable (it is recommended to use the driver provided by SCON). In addition, it is also possible that the wire is not connected properly, or the driver is not placed horizontally, or the power of the driver is large and the power of the lamp loaded is too small (you can increase the lamps to increase the total power load).
Q: The light flickering when the switch is turned on.
A: It is most likely a driver problem (lighting problems will only cause no light). It is recommended to replace the driver or check if the wiring is good.
Q: Using the driver, track and light provided by SCON, but can’t light up the system.
A: First, make sure there are no installation errors. Secondly, please replace the parts one by one to test whether it is a driver problem or a track problem or a lamp problem, and then solve the problem by replacing it (sorry for the product problem, we will be very grateful if you can feedback the problems to Amazon).
Q: Is this system dimmable?
A: The XTB028 system is not dimmable, while the XTB106 system is dimmable (TRIAC, 0-10V, DALI). The two systems use different drivers, tracks and lighting heads.
Q: Dimmable or non-dimmable? Which one should I choose?
A: Non-dimmable system is simple, practical, durable and easy to maintain, while the dimmable system is much more complex to install, feature-rich but later maintenance will be more trouble, the stability of performance is not as good as the non-dimming system.
